create your own shoes

In deciding to create your own footwear, you are able to make the right choices as to the length and size of you shoes.  This is not as simple as making a dress though because it takes skill and understanding to do so.  To deeply develop the understanding of shoe making, a good research and observation to the shoe making process should be first made.  Take apart an old shoe and understand the concept that was used to build it.  Take note that in building a shoe, an outline has to be made first where the leather can be wrapped around and be based on.  To create this outline that is commonly called a last, you need to have a previous old pair of shoes to place the plaster of Paris in.  Once molded this plaster of Paris becomes the primary mold where you can create your own shoes of other designs and features.

The mold of the Plaster of Paris is then used by fitting a leather or cloth that is to be the cover of the shoes.  Take note of the contours of the cut up leather.  Then sew the back seam to make it form a shoe.  This is the upper part of your shoe.  The leather is then molded again the last and creates a look that is wet.  This is made wet to form it to the last to enable you to sew the bottom tightly with strong thread and let it remain to dry.  A sole is then also cut up with the proportioned size of the shoe.  It is then attached to the leather by strong thread or glue.

Create your own shoes by deciding on the whole design of the shoe.  Take time to decide the pattern of the leather that is to be used.
